Read moreSex difference in age and performance in elite Swiss freestyle swimmers competing from 50 m to 1,500 m So far, very different numbers for the age of the best performance in the freestyle swimming have been described in the literature. That should have been located at the different collective and efforts of the investigated swimmer. From 50m to 1'500m freestyle, we examined the numbers of Switzerland’s best swimmers from the years 2006-2010. The women achieved the fastest times of 50m to 400m at the age of 20-21 years, over 800m at 25-27 years and over 1,500m at 24-25 years. For men, the age of the best performance was between 22-23 and 25-27 years for 50m to 1'500m. In the period of 10-29 years, the difference in performance over 50m from 2.2 ± 0.4% to 19.0 ± 6.7% increased, more than 100m from 2.4 ± 0.7% to 10.8 ± 2.8% and over 200m from 3.6 ± 1.9% to 10.2 ±3.4%.Over 400m, 800m and 1'500m there was no change, the differences were 6.9 ± 3.0% for 400m, 5.8 ± 3.5% for 800m and 9.7 ± 8.6% for 1'500m.
Read moreThe Effect of 25 M versus 50 M Course Length on Backstroke Performance – An Analysis of National and International Swimmers The difference in speed on the short and like the Langbahn has so far been examined almost exclusively for freestyle. We examined the difference for back floats, where we also looked at whether there is a difference between a national and international level. From the period 2000-2013 we examined for 50m, 100m and 200m back swimming if the swimmers on the short run are more and faster than on the Langbahn. On average, the swimmers were 4.3% faster on the short run, regardless of gender and route length. The difference between the sexes was for swimmers at an international level for all routes on the short-run greater than on the Langbahn, for swimmers at a national level only over 200m.
Read morePerformance and sex difference in ultra-triathlon performance from Ironman to Double Deca Iron ultra-triathlon between 1978 and 2013 The best Ironman triathlets are increasingly approaching the best men. It has also been described that women can conquer men on very long swimming trails.Even on very long running tracks, women can keep in front of the front. So the question arises as it looks like on the very long triathlon routes. We have the top 3 finishers from 1978 to 2013 via the Ironman route (3.8 km swim, 180 km cycling and 42.195 km walk) to the Double Deca route (76 km swim, 3'600 km cycling and 840 kmRunning) Examined whether the women are able to maintain at the very long triathlon routes on the front with the men.Totally the times of 46'123 triathlets were evaluated. While the difference in performance for swimming, cycling, running and overall time for the Ironman route decreased, the difference increased over the double Ironman route for the total time. The triple Ironman route also came to an increase in cycling, running and total time. If you take the fastest finishers for all routes, the difference was 27.0% for swimming, 24.3% for cycling, 24.5% for running and 24.0% for the total time.

Read moreChanges in foot volume, body composition, and hydration status in male and female 24-hour ultra-mountain bikers The effect of a 24-hour load was already examined for running and cycling, but not in a mountain bike race. A Czech group has now studied 24-hour mountain bikers in relation to changes in body composition, fluid budget and a total swelling of the feet.
It showed that it came to a decrease in body mass as well as the fat mass while the muscle mass remained unchanged. In contrast to ultra skiers, the mountain bikers did not come to a swelling of the feet.Likewise, the liquid balance remained very balanced. Will women outrun men in ultra-marathon road races from 50 km to 1,000 km? In earlier work, it was speculated that women are able to beat the men on the ultra-long running tracks. We have now analyzed the difference between the genders for the running tracks from 50km to 1000km from the period from 1969 to 2012. It showed that the runners were faster over the years. The women were also closer to men over 50km and 100km, but not over 200km and 1000km.
