Sex difference in Double Iron ultra-triathlon Performance In the literature, there are several opinions that women on the long ultrasides are getting closer to men’s performance. We have analyzed all competition results about Double Iron from 1985 to 2012.During this period, 1,591 men and 155 women Double Iron have gefnishes, with the number of men exponentially and the number of women only linearly increases over the years. Men were swimming, cycling and running as well as in the total time faster than the women. The difference in swimming at 26.8 +/- 13.5%, when cycling at 25.2 +/- 7.3%, running at 32.4 +/- 12.5% and in the total time at 27.1 +/- 8.6%.
Since these differences for the three fastest men and women over the period from 1985 to 2012 remained constant, it can not be assumed that women come to the performance of men in the near future. In addition, the percentages are significantly higher than for the Ironman route, so women should be even more slower over longer triathlon routes than the men, which must first be analyzed.
