Pacing strategies by age in marathon cross-country skiing The pacing has been studied in several studies especially in runners. In runners, it was also examined about the marathon track, and there for both peak runners and age class runners. On the other hand, there is no evaluation like ski runners on a marathon track Pacen. We therefore examined every 105'565 finishers at the Engadin Ski Marathon from 1998 to 2016.We have formed age groups in intervals of 5 years and the change in the speed between the individual items (10km, 20km, 35 km and destination) examined. It showed that men and younger ski runners rather had a balanced pacing in contrast to women and older ski runners.
This realization differs significantly from previously known results specifically from runners. It can be assumed that the differences in pacing will be due to the sport depending on age and gender. The whole evaluation can be found under https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29345960/
