Pacing in age-group freestyle swimmers at The XV FINA World Masters Championships in Montreal 2014 The pacing has already been investigated in sports above all for top athletes in different sports. In swimming is known as top freestyle swimmers behave on the different route lengths. On the other hand, we do not know if the swimmers are different with increasing age. That’s why we have analyzed results of nearly 4500 floats over 100m, 200m, 400m and 800m freestyle in the age groups 25-29 to 90-94 years at the Swimming World Cup 2014.
It came out that a partial difference in pacing with increasing age was present. Interestingly, the second round (the second 50m) was slow on the longer distances and a clear difference in pacing between men and women was shown.
