Aging Effects on Marathon Performance Insights from the New York City Race. In a recent study, the relationship between age and performance was examined at 370,741 runners at the New York City Marathon between 1999 and 2011. It turned out that the influence of age on the performance in men and women was about the same, but the age had a different impact on the fastest and slowest runners and the gender difference was greater than slower runners.
