Liquid supply and swelling of the feet

Ad libitum fluid intake leads to no leg swelling in male Ironman triathletes an observational field study In 100 km runners, a connection between the swelling of the feet and the fluid supply during the course could be detected. We have now examined whether this is also an Ironman triathlet.Unlike 100 km runners, Ironman triathlets did not swell in the lower extremities but the volume of the lower leg even took off. The decrease in the volume of the lower leg showed no connection with the fluid supply.

Obviously, there is a difference in the tendency to swelling of the lower extremity between 100 km runners and Ironman triathlets. The study can be found under https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22937792/
