Fat burning and IRONMAN competition time

Maximal Fat Oxidation is Related to Performance in an Ironman Triathlon We know that fat is an important high-energy substrate for long to very long endurance charges. A Danish group has examined the relationship between the maximum fat oxidation rate in the laboratory and the competition time on an Ironman triathlon. It showed a clear relationship between the maximum fat oxidation rate with the maximum oxygen uptake, the percentage of body fat and the competition time.

If the significant variables were examined together, the maximum fat oxidation rate is an independent predictive factor for the Ironman competition time. The work can be found under https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29050040/
